Muriel Faille, Painter, Engraver, Publisher, Poet
62 Johnston Road
Brome Lake, Québec J0E 1V0

Muriel Faille draws and paints on canvas, skin and wood, in very small and very large formats, exposing the grain of life and the intimate lives of objects—an intimacy that speaks to the true nature of being. With her starting point in concrete reality, she explores an abstract reality parallel to our own. Her world, at once physical and poetic, is complemented by an artistic approach that is rooted in philosophy and psychology.
Holding a bachelor’s degree in visual arts and a specialized certificate in print arts from Université du Québec à Montréal, Muriel Faille founded her own publishing house, Kimanie, in 1983. Eight of its titles appear in the collections of Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec in Montréal and Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa. She was also the driving force behind an artistic happening in Brome Lake called Champ de Mauve, which she held annually for 15 years, from 2003 to 2017. Her artistic career also includes lecturing at Université de Sherbrooke, training at the Conseil montérégien de la culture et des communications, and various mentorships and curatorships. Over her 45 years of artistic production, she has taken part in some 25 solo shows and 60 group shows.
Muriel Faille is a member of the Tour des Arts.
